Ing. Ján Zbojovský, PhD., KEE FEI TUKE

The VHV test room is located in the premises of the Lemešany substation. It is the joint property of TUKE and VSD. The Department of Electrical Power Engineering uses the test room for the purposes of higher education and the development of creative scientific research. VSD employees are engaged in testing elements used for the construction of transmission and distribution power distribution networks. The test room is used to investigate the electrical insulation properties of high-voltage electrical power equipment: VHV transformer bushings, HV and VHV insulator hangers contaminated with industrial exhaust fumes, surge arresters, HV and VHV circuit breakers, HV cables and cable assemblies. The following tests are performed: withstand voltage, measurement of the degree of contamination of insulators, measurement of switching characteristics, measurement of the level of partial discharges, measurement of capacitance and loss factor, measurement of the quality of current connections, measurement of the degree of water absorption of insulation systems.

Subjects and learning outcomes:

Doctoral study: Subject Dissertation project: Mastering the methods of scientific work. Deepening knowledge in the field of the dissertation topic. Through intensive research, achieving original scientific results acceptable at the international level. The doctoral student can demonstrate the ability to creatively work independently and in teams when solving a scientific research task or project by presenting results in the form of scientific publications, in journals and at conferences, participating in research teams for grant tasks, etc. He is able to formulate the goals of the dissertation and the methods that lead to the fulfillment of its goals. He is able to design and apply scientific methods of solution. Can present the procedures and achieved results of his/her scientific work.

Doctoral studies: Subject Scientific activity 1-5.: Ability to independently conceive, construct, implement and modify a substantial part of the research with scientific integrity and contribute to the expansion of the boundaries of scientific knowledge through the implementation of an extensive set of works, some of which are worthy of peer-reviewed publication. Achieving original scientific results, acceptable at the international level. Based on the implementation of scientific research, the graduate is considered an expert in his/her field.
